At the last meeting Jaswant Bains was inducted as Paul Harris Fellow and received his Pin and Certificate. This brings the club to 5 Paul Harris Fellows.
What is a Paul Harris Fellow?
The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. ... In 1969, the Foundation unveiled the first Paul Harris Fellow medallion at the Rotary Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
Many other notable figures have been named as Paul Harris Fellows, including U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk.
Meeting Change in November
Normally the lunch meetings are every 2 weeks. However we have a minor change in November, The first meeting November will be on Nov 13th at Seasons in the park. So 3 weeks from the October meeting, we will be back on schedule every 2 weeks after that, so Nov 27th etc.
Beyond the Conversation is a non profit association with the goal of ending social isolation by building strong community through conversation.
People are experiencing loneliness and isolation, a reality that most of our Canadian-born, immigrant seniors, and refugee claimants are facing in life. Surveys have shown that language barrier is the major cause of social isolation. Amie Peacock founded the Beyond The Conversation group in November of 2015 to help seniors in Metro Vancouver to learn basic conversational English.

New Bylaws Document
The Bylaws have not been updated in a few years and don't match what the practices should be for a Rotary club in 2019. The Board has worked to revamp the document and this will be posted on the website.
Step 1 is that you will be sent a copy and then will be asked to vote to accept the bylaws at the October 23rd meeting.
Holiday Dinner & Fundraiser
Again our club has grown taking us into 45 members. Each person that we add makes the club stronger and gives us the ability to do more while spreading the work load.
